July 23, 2024 | 12PM EST - 2pm EST

The UnidosUS Learning Alliance (ULA) is currently registering counselors for the Responding to Heirs Property and Preventing Home Loss.  The training will take place on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM EST.   This webinar class will be accessible from any computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection via Blackboard Learn web application. Blackboard mobile is also available via Android and iOS.

Many individuals live in homes they inherited when a family member died. Heirs property commonly refers to a home that is owned by multiple individuals or heirs who have not yet filed the legal documents necessary to have their name reflected as the record owner of the property. Heirs property issues disproportionately impact communities of color due to gaps in access to estate planning.

Heirs property ownership creates a number of risks and challenges that may result in the loss of the family home. In this webinar we will discuss how heirs property arises, describe the scope of the problem, and walk through practical responses by housing professionals and legal strategies to help heirs untangle or resolve heirs property, to prevent it from occurring, and prevent the loss of a family home.

Our courses are designed to provide options to multiple types of learners in one setting. We provide a virtual class facilitated by an instructor. Two-hour mandatory attendance is required for this training to receive a certificate of course completion.

Tuition: $100.00

Registration fee $10.00
